Okay. I’ve never written about this before—never written about him. But the DMs from him this afternoon made me decide to write this, for the first time—maybe also for the last time.
A boy from my past, my very first boyfriend, sent me messages on Instagram. He said something I never expected him to say after 10 years had passed (yup, we were in 11th grade). He apologized for what happened in our relationship. Everything moved so fast back then (we didn’t even have a picture together, lol). We didn’t fully understand what was happening or how to handle it. We broke up and lost contact with each other. I met him once, but we pretended like nothing ever happened between us and chose not to speak.
He’s been avoiding this topic for the last 10 years, and today he finally found the courage to address it. I responded with an apology of my own because I’m sure there were moments when I hurt him, either with my words or actions. So, after 10 years, we forgave each other.
It felt almost impossible, but it happened. Maybe this was just the right time for it.
Are we going to start over again? I don’t think so. We know we’re different people now, and we’re no longer meant for each other.
Thank you for reading this, dear reader. I’ll close with this: people come into your life for a reason; they’re either a blessing or a lesson.
